Carmes offers over 950 square meters of indoor space over three floors, as well as the vast main house there is also a large private apartment, part of which is inside the beautiful tower section located at the far end of the property. The ground floor features vaulted ceilings throughout as well as multiple entrances from both from the front and the rear gardens. There is potential to expand the property even further with it's third floor being one large extensive boarded attic and a separate tower attic which had it's roof fully restored in 2010. This is a fantastic place to set up a thriving B&B, with the right vision you could incorporate a lovely restaurant or even turn Carmes into a small hotel.

Carmes was founded in 1329 by Cardinal Pierre Gauvain for the maintenance of the hospital built near its entrance gate (courtyard area). He founded three religious institutions at the time, one being the general hospital itself, staffed by monks of the Carmes religious order, one a private school, run by the Augustins religious order and the other a monastery, occupied by the Chartreux religious order. Carmes full name is Le couvent des Carmes, as a convent it was partly rebuilt in the XVII th century and the XVIII th century, it even played it's part during WW2.
